The artist, who grew up in Mülheim an der Ruhr, received the Kunstpreis junger Westen (Young West Art Prize) in Recklinghausen in 1965 and 1968, as well as the Ruhr Prize in 1974. The technique used in this work is what Rickert calls ‘blurred photorealism’.
